Mirrors with LEDs provide excellent illumination for vanities, dressing rooms, and hallways (so passersby can stop to touch up makeup, hair, or clothes in a hurry). It is literally possible to place lighted mirrors in any area, since they come in different shapes and sizes and can be hung vertically or horizontally!

What are LED Light Mirrors?

LED lights are the most popular home decoration lamp in 2020, providing soft and natural light.

A mirror lamp is an illuminating lamp above or on both sides of a mirror that is primarily used to brighten up the reflection for people looking into the mirror.

The mirrors in most bathrooms are mounted on the wall, and the lights are located in the middle of the roof. Because we carry the light, our faces appear dull when we look in the mirror.

When the mirror headlight is installed, the face will appear clear, hence the need for the mirror headlight.

What is the advantage of LED lights on a mirror?

Reduced energy consumption

LEDs are used in LED lighted mirrors. With energy-efficient lights, you’ll pay less for electricity (lower bills!) and they’ll last over a decade. The move to LEDs is the best long-term investment you can make that saves you time and money.

Lighting of the highest quality

There are many colors and lumens available for LED lighting (usually cooler colors and higher lumens). They can produce lighting that has a high level of brightness and emulates the true white light emitted by the sun. Therefore, this type of lighting is ideal for applying makeup, shaving, and grooming. The white light also keeps clothing, makeup, etc., true to their original colors-there’s no need to worry about yellowing caused by color temperatures that are too warm. Moreover, because the mirror is surrounded by light, there will be no shadows cast on your face when grooming. You will be able to shave or apply makeup more accurately.

An anti-fog product

LED mirrors typically come with anti-fog systems built in. These enable users to use the mirror immediately after bathing or showering. Now you don’t have to wipe the mirror down or wait for it to defog! The anti-fogging system works by dispersing water molecules into the air.

Dimensions and style

You can mount lighted mirrors in any direction, and they come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Luminous mirrors eliminate the need for a vanity fixture installed above the mirror since the lighting is built into the mirror. Bathrooms with limited space can benefit from more storage options.

The Aesthetic

Decorative LED mirrors enhance the aesthetics of any space. As well as providing an upscale look, they can also be seamlessly incorporated into spaces.

What is the best way to backlight a mirror?

To backlight your mirror, find a mirror and LED light strips for your home, attach them with some care, and connect them to a nearby power source. In addition to the materials needed for this fun project, you can also find them at a home improvement store.

LED Strips and Mirror Selection

1. Make sure you have a floating mirror. There must be space between the mirror and the wall for light to shine from behind it. Floating mirrors can be found in department stores or online, and they can be installed in any space behind them.

  • There are instructions and hardware included with the floating mirror to hang it away from a wall.

2. Mirrors that aren’t floating need spacers. If your existing mirror is not a floating mirror, use spacers or mounting bars to create a space behind it. Take measurements and purchase mounting bars from your local hardware store to install behind your mirror. As an alternative, you could cut small wooden pieces of even width and use them as spacers.

  • The mounting bars or spacers can be glued to the back of the mirror with any type of glue you like, such as silicone-based glue or all-purpose super glue.
  • The mirror should be at the farthest possible distance from the wall (2.5 to 5.1 cm). As long as the spacers are not visible from the front, you can accomplish this in any way you like.

3. Measuring the perimeter or circumference of your mirror. You should measure the mirror’s circumference or perimeter at least 2 in (5.1 cm) from its edge. In order to avoid seeing the lights behind the mirror once they are attached, you should be away from the edge.

  • Starting at the top of the mirror, measure 2 inches (5.1 cm) away from the edge, and measuring 2 inches (5.1 cm) away from the bottom. Multiply this result by 3.14.
  • To measure the perimeter of a rectangular mirror, measure its 4 edges at 2 inches (5 cm) from its corners. Add all four measurements together.
  • Be sure to record your final measurement. Backlighting your mirror will require this length of LED strip.

4. Use warm white 12V LED lights for a subtle effect. Warm white 12V LED lights are some of the most popular and versatile backlighting LEDs. You’ll receive good light from behind your mirror, but it won’t overwhelm you.

  • You will be able to see better in the bathroom while shaving or applying makeup with this option.
  • LED light strips are available at home improvement stores and online retailers.

5. LED strips with ultra-bright colors or designs will add a modern touch. In case your backlit mirror is primarily decorative, choose LED strips that are ultra-bright or have changeable colors. Match the colored strips to the décor of your room to achieve a chic look.

  • If you use this type of strip on a mirror in a hallway, living room, or bedroom, the effect will be striking.

6. LED strips must be powered by cables designed for them. You will need a connector between your LED strip and your outlet if it does not come with a plug. You should ask the store where you purchased your LED strip about the power cables for the voltage of your lights when you buy them.

  • You should be able to find matching wiring after you attach your lights to your mirror if you have no experience determining appropriate voltage for your cable.

Conclusion

You can see LED-lit mirrors in hotels, restaurants, and shops that are becoming increasingly popular among people. These mirrors will definitely become an essential part of bathroom decoration in the future.
